London City
Songwriters – Megan O’Neill, David Dunwell, Joseph Dunwell
I left London quite unexpectedly after 5 years living there. Even though part of me was ready to go, I struggled a lot with the change. It’s a hard city to leave. This song is about my relationship with London I suppose – the rush, the excitement, the opportunities but also the loneliness, the anonymity and the unrelenting nature of city life.
lyrics
You’ve drawn me in / you kept me here
5 short, but 5 long years
You’ve kept me crazy, you kept me sane
If I had the choice, I’d do it again
You hold no limits / you let me explore
Find out who I am / who I’m not anymore
You’ve kept me crazy / you kept me blind
If I had the choice / would I leave you behind?
I won’t shed a tear for you, London City
I won’t shed a tear for you, London City
You always knew, the right words to say
You changed me, defied me, defined me in ways
But I won’t shed a tear for you, London City
The times you pushed me down / and drowned me out / too many people / too much to talk about
But when I listened out / you taught me how / to by myself amongst the crowd
And I can’t stop now
Shedding tears for you, London City
Shedding tears for you, London City
You always knew, the right words to say
You changed me, defied me, defined me in ways
Now I can’t stop, shedding tears, London City
I can’t stop shedding tears, London City (x4)

There is soul music...
and there is music for the soul.
Danni Nicholls deserves to be a household name, her music familiar in every household collection.
For a live album to pack this much of a punch says so much about the artist.
Her songwriting. Her beautiful voice. Her self confessed vulnerability and fragility.
This truly is a piece of musical art. Brian Doig
